Thank you for your article, with which I find much to encourage me to do some research of my own.

My research may not always support your research. A good thing, not a criticism in the narrow sense of what criticism is.

I will make a further reply to your article, but that will take this 83-year-old a while to accomplish.

What I can say without any time researching is that I fully endorse the words below.

For those with mild conditions, the system is not only expensive but also corrosive. Labelled individuals come to see themselves as permanently impaired rather than capable of growth. Individual agency gives way to identity.

I have always fought against the use of labels for children.

They retard hope and ambition among parents, teachers and students.

How many times have I heard (or read in the eyes of a child), “It’s not my fault I have ‘xyz'? ” It is so ‘end of argument’, so much against ‘making an effort’. So damning.
