Please find a set of references which emphasize the necessity of freely chosen cooperative community, and simultaneously a critique of the way things currently are as described here:

Steven previously wrote an essay in defense of traditional Christianity - the next two essays point out that there is no such thing as True Religion outside the crucible of cooperative community

..... As Hayek wisely observed, liberty is both a gift and a responsibility....

This is the sticking point in many ways. Taking responsibility for our lives in all the aspects that our circumstances allow can be a difficult journey for many - and I include myself in that journey.

As a younger person it was often easier to just express myself and do whatever I wanted at the time, without seeing/realizing that I was the cause of so many domino like troubles for myself (and others in my orbit who were affected). It wasn't until I woke up a bit, stopped railing against the sky, blaming others and finally saw these connections that I started to actively change my thoughts and behavior.

Effort (in all aspects) equals reward and positive results in our lives. Any failures are mine and are too be examined and learned from. However not all parts of our lives can be controlled, and as such I don't fret over things I have absolutely no control over. I now do my best with the tools I have on hand and release the rest.

This has turned out for the better.

Henri, the old Stoics would agree with you completely. Focus on what is in your control and accept the rest. Amor Fati
