A pluralistic society requires citizens who can engage across differences, not just coexist in parallel worlds. If universities do not model this, who will?
Having grown up on Tyneside, from 1961-64 I studied economics at the London School of Economics, a melting pot of many backgrounds and nationalities - I was a friend of Jomo Kenyatta's son. Debate was always robust, and at times intense. A great environment.. Contrast that ioth the recent dreadful goings on at Queensland University of Technology. I took part in some research at QUT about 18 months ago, and it was utter nonsense, of no value.

Universities have lost their way and are no longer places for debate and learning. Great to meet you last week at the Mannkal evening
Thanks, great evening. Time to push back.
